Quoted from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit": "Hobbits are little people, smaller than dwarfs. They love peace and quiet and good tilled earth. They dislike machines, but they are handy with tools. They are nimble but don't like to hurry. They have sharp ears and eyes. They are inclined to be fat. They wear bright colors but seldom wear shoes. They like to laugh and eat (six meals a day) and drink. They like parties and they like to give and receive presents. They inhabit a land they call The Shire, a place between the River Brandywine and the Far Downs."
Any thoughts or comments on this?

Well then I'll make a comment about that. They are supposible quiet little folk. Well what about Merry and Pippin the like to be loud and troublesome. I thought hobbits were quiet and peaceful. Does this ruin the fact???

No, this doesn't "ruin the fact" because Merry and Pippin (along with other certain hobbits) like to create attention. In all societies, there are some people who are the jokesters, in this case it's Merry and Pippin. They're doing their pranks and jokes within "their world". You also have to understand that this statement about hobbits is in general, meaning mostly all hobbits are like this. Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, and Bilbo proved to not be like this, as they went on journeys and had adventures.

Plus there are different kinds of hobbits, that's why some like Frodo are skinny, and others aren't so.

Well, the size of the Hobbit doesn't really mean that they're different from one another. It just means that they either are more active, or they don't eat as much as the other. It doesn't make them stick out of the group if they are skinny.

No in the books there are a few different kinds, such as the Harfoots, Stoors, and Fallohides. The Harfoots were darker colored, and shorter, and had lovely hills. The Stoors were heavier, and preferred flat lands. And the Fallohides were skinnier, and fairer in skin, and they loved trees. So the size kinda does determine what KIND of hobbit they are
